Daniel Fast - Day 2

Today was back to work and that means planning on what we will eat.

For breakfast we had my homemade granola and almond milk.  I warned up the granola and almond milk and it was prefect for the cold morning.

I enjoyed some bible journaling while I ate my breakfast.  Today's bible verse and bible journaling.

Morning snack for me was a strawberry and banana smoothie with almond milk, I used fresh bananas and frozen strawberries.  I also snacked on some homemade kale chips and fresh strawberries.  I knew my husband would want something different so he had pickles and grapes for snack.

My lunch today was a spinach strawberry salad with pecans.

My goal is to try and make sure we are taking in enough protein to help out with our afterwork workouts.

Dinner tonight will be a vegetable stir fry with brown rice.  I might add some edamame with my meal.

I have noticed a slight headache from giving up my morning coffee, I hope that it will go away soon! Until next tomorrow.

Daniel Fast - Day 1

We are still off from work, so prepping food was pretty easy.  This morning we started our day with Ezekiel bread, almond butter and a banana.  No coffee this morning.

During breakfast, I started my bible study.  The theme for this months bible study is New Beginnings.  In addition to my bible study we will be studying Romans and James during the following 21 days.

Today was a very relaxing day.  We decided to take in a movie (and popcorn is my weakness).  Luckily the movies now has almonds for snacks.

Dinner was hot water cornbread and white bean soup.  We have the soup every time we do the Daniel Fast.  It is so easy to make and is very good.  It makes enough to last for lunch the next day as well.  While it was cooking I decided to prep some homemade Kale chips (these are becoming my favorite snack.)

My two helpers while I cook today.  Riley waits for me to drop food while I cook.

Happy New Years Eve!

Today was spent getting ready for our Daniel Fast and celebrating the past year with family.

Yesterday we did some shopping and cleaning out the food from Christmas (all the candy and sweets).  I will share recipes that we have found that work for us that we found from Pinterest. My husband and I are also currently training for half marathon and marathon.  We will still need to take in some protein to be able to continue our workout schedule.  Our protein will be coming from beans and nuts.

Today I made some granola to help with mornings when I cannot came something.  This is one of my favorite granola recipes, it is so easy and very good.  The link below is where I found the recipe.

We love to eat chips and salsa as a snack, but as you know most recipes of salsa are made with sugar, however during the Daniel Fast you cannot have sugar.  I used the following recipe but just left out the sugar.  It is still very good and the longer it sits the more the flavors mingle. It is a great snack.

My helper today as I was food prepping.  Riley was hoping that I dropped some snacks for her.  She loves the granola.

End to all the prepping.  It is time to have dinner with the family and celebrate the coming of the new year.

Preparing for Daniel Fast

This is me, my name is Debra and I am planning a great year.

This past year, I had a chance to start working out with some great people at a FBBC.  Working out with this group allowed me to lose 15lbs in 2 months.  I am very thankful for the friendships that I have made and the motivation that they give me.

I know this year will be even better.

We will be starting our yearly Daniel Fast January 1st.  Today I spent the day researching and looking for recipes that will work for my husband and I in our very busy schedule.

I plan on using this blog to post what we will be eating and the my bible study for 21 days.

This year I also plan to lose 10 more pounds to get at my goal weight.

Hopefully through this I will be able to inspire someone else.
